Cavalaire-sur-Mer is a small town in the South of France not too far from St Tropez. It is a town I would have never thought to visit. The reason I ended up in Cavalaire-sur-Mer is because my friend Kim has an aunt that lives there. So we were invited by the aunt to visit her and her husbnad and stay in their beautiful bohimian home. I met Kim while studying in Belgium, and we quickly became good friends. He speaks perfect French, and we are both Francophiles. So when his aunt suggested he come to Cavalaire-sur-Mer, he asked if he could come with two friends, and she agreed. This is how I got to travel to the South of France. We took multiple trains all the way from Ghent, Belgium to Cavalaire-sur-Mer. Taking the train through France was an amazing experience as you get to see the French small towns and the French countryside. While staying in Cavalaire-sur-Mer we took the bus to Gassin. Gassin is a small commune perched high up on a rock and has the most spectacular views. The commune is less than 4ย km away from the sea. It is ancient looking. It is beautiful, quiet, and luch. Walking through the streets of Gassin felt like trespassing because the house doors are basically on the street. It would be a perfect place to getaway to write. I hope I can visit both places again one day. Here are beautiful pictures from my time in the South of France.
