Hello Gorgeous!

This year there was a buzz in the city after the opening of the boutique hotel Gorgeous George in the heart of downtown Cape Town. The hotel has a rooftop pool and a restaurant and bar called Gigi on the 6th floor. Of course, when you hear of a new spot in the city, the natural reaction is curiosity. I first read about the hotel in the design and lifestyle magazine House and Leisure. It was featured early this year, and I was seriously curious about the restaurant and hotel. So, I made reservations for a lazy boozy brunch on a sunny Saturday in August. Making the reservation was interesting as I are asked to put down a R200 reservation fee, more like a deposit that eventually goes towards your bill. This was a first for me in the city. I wonder if other places with follow this model. Anyway, I knew that one would want to be cute for Gorgeous George because everything about it is about glamour, lifestyle, and design. In other words – the good life. So I thought my canary yellow jacket would be just the perfect thing. Also, in August, after months of winter, a sunny day is a sign of things to come – spring. So my yellow jacket it was. I paired it with my black and white block trousers. I also wrote my red Jeffrey Campbell boots from That Shoe Lady in Sea Point. I also thought some beadwork would do me good, so I put on my beaded neck piece and my ring from Beloved Beadwork. My favourite accessory, of course, is the floral square bag from a pop-up shop by Ntozintle. My experience at the Gorgeous George was fantastic. I love the bar space. I love the outside space by the pool. It’s a perfect brunch spot during the day and lovely for dinner, and just perfect for late drinks. The space is so beautiful you want to dress up for it. I am sure I will be spending many nights at the Gorgeous George and I look forward to it.

p.s. The last three pictures were taken at the Camps Bay retreat, which I went to after brunch that Saturday. πŸ˜‰ Enjoy and tell me what you think.
