It’s been over a year now since I was in Paris with my friend Osh. My facsination with Paris and all things French probably began with James Baldwin’s Giovanni’s Room. In my late twenties I eventually traveled to the City of Light. It was the most amazing time going to museums, going to the Eiffel Tower, walking the streets of the city, and going to gay bars. I can still remember that late morning when I walked out of the Metro and I saw Paris for the first time. It was like I was in a movie. It was hot. People walking up and down and the cafes setting up for lunch. Ever since then, I am always looking for opportunities that will take me to Paris. So when my friend, Osh, wanted to visit me while I was studying in Belgium, I told him we will have to go to Paris. Part of the reason I went to Belgium was becaue of its proximity to France. Anyway, so I went to Paris with my friend and it was magic. My friend and I are obsessed with fashion, so being in Paris together was an opportunity for fashion. We walked the streets, we visited the fashion houses, we took pictures with Dior signs, and went to dingy gay bars. It was just fantastic. On one of the days, we saw two beautiful strangers who were dressed to kill. We went to say hi, and it turns out they were in Paris for a few days. The two beautiful strangers were from Serbia and they were so friendly. We ended up hanging out with the two beautiful stranger all day. We went to the Eiffel Tower and had a fantastic fashion shoot. We sat on the grass and watched people while we drank champagne and ate macoroons. Paris is a city that demands you to enjoy it. It’s a city that seduces you to want to be Parisian. Ernest Hemmingway gets it absalutely right when he says โIf you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast.โ I was lucky enough to go to Paris, and the city has stayed with with and I am looking forward to my next trip, whenever it might be. Here are some pictures from my trip to Paris. Enjoy.
