I love Braids and I love the colour blue. So when I saw the blue fiber in a store window in Ghent, Belgium, I knew I had to have it. When I bought the fiber I wasn’t sure how I would use it, but I knew I would find a style I would like eventually. So when I eventually after months of being back in Cape Town, I decided to visit Afro Corner hair salon on Strand Street. I described to them what I wanted to do with the blue hair. The women at the salon understood what I wanted and they proceeded to braid my hair just how I wanted it. I love going to Afro Corner because they understand the often complicated things I want to be done to my hair. This is probably my “wildest” hairstyle yet, but it felt like the most natural. So like many artists in history, I also had a “blue period.” 😉
So, of course, because of the hair, I was prone to taking lots of pictures. This post is all about those pictures. Also, with the blue braids, I had to dress for the braids the whole time I had them. I had to turn a look every day. It was fun to dress with the braids in mind. The pictures here were taken by Pierre in the wine country. The photo shoots were all about showcasing the hair. The blue hair was my crown glory and I milked all the attention I could get with them. It was fantastic. Now I have been wondering what to do next, everything seems a bit tame now that I had the blue hair. Maybe I can do white or grey. We will see where the next inspiration will come from. In the meantime feast on these fabulous blue photographs.
