Preppy But Funky at Inxeba Movie Screening

I adore the outfit I put together to go see the screening of Inxeba (The Wound) at the Cape Town Silwerskermfees at The Bay Hotel in Camps Bay. I had heard about the movie, and I was excited to see it. That the movie had Nakhane in it was also a selling point because we love Nakhane. I have since written about the movie in the blog site Queer Consciousness, the pieces can be accessed here and here. The screening was at the end of August 2017, which means the end of winter, so one has to be cute but also warm. Spring takes a while to kick in in Cape Town. So I decided on colour blocking and layering. I love colours and patterns that are “not” supposed to go together but do go together on the right person with the right attitude. The white shirt, the green jersey, and the red jacket work well together, but with the purple polka dot, the outfit sours. Also smart, is paring the “formal” funky top with a cool denim and super cool almost knee high All-Stars. It’s preppy but funky and super adorable. The Bay Hotel was also the perfect location for the mini photo shoot that took place after the movie screening. You can see it in the pictures how much fun I had!
